A void. A fallen soldier. He was—and is no more. But he left behind a memory.

Artist Yael Zerubbavel writes:

"During the war, I was confronted with the painful reality of soldiers falling on the battlefield, leaving behind women expecting new life. At the time, I was pregnant myself, and the subject touched me deeply. I grieved for the mothers left to face life alone, and for the babies born who would never know their fathers.

And yet, each child brings with them light—joy, hope, and comfort to the mothers, siblings, and parents of the fallen, who see in them a living continuation of the son they lost.
