Just as physical DNA passes from generation to generation, so do names pass from generation to generation, and so does the strength of our souls. DNA expresses the hidden element that passes from generation to generation. My grandfather, Menachem Yehuda son of Rachel, who survived the Holocaust,  endured against all odds and raised a righteous generation, wrote in a memorial book that "the will to live and the will to survive is the force that enables a person to overcome any illness and any challenge and to remain alive for the sake of future generations." These words strengthened and fortified us at that moment, and we chose to name our son after him, Menachem Yehuda son of Sarah, in the belief that the name will transmit the DNA of spiritual strength, the inner power, to future generations.
