In the book "Tomer Devorah" by the holy Ramak, it is explained that the entire world exists through the radiance of the living King's countenance. Heaven forbid that there should be even a moment of concealment of His face; and the entire world cannot exist. A person is commanded to emulate his Creator, and therefore, the central purpose and role of every individual, wherever they may be and in whatever situation they find themselves, is to shine their countenance – to others, to themselves, to all of creation, and to the Creator Himself.
