The series of works is created using colored pencils and pastels on parchment and baking paper—a nontraditional combination that brings together simple materiality with rich spiritual expression. The pieces draw inspiration from the feminine world and the space between faith and personal effort, placing the mitzvah of challah at their center—a daily, domestic, and deeply feminine act. Through the image of challah braiding, the concept of life as a braid is conveyed: a delicate yet powerful process of connection, giving, and relationship. The braiding of separate parts into one unified whole that reconciles opposites stands as the abstract idea underlying the challah imagery. From these everyday materials and routine actions emerges an inner movement of connection—to holiness, to family, and to the historical continuity of the Jewish people. Within the braiding motion are interwoven opposites—faith and release, holding on and humility—together forming the complete fabric of existence.
