The painting depicts a deep longing for my father's home, just a few moments before the onset of the holy Shabbat. On the large wooden table lies a handwoven tablecloth, not yet spread out before the Sabbath. Next to it are my father's belongings, his reading glasses, and the book "Tikkun Korim" from which he prepared the Torah Reading of the weekly portion in the synagogue for the next day. I remember my father's voice, chanting to himself the verses of the Torah.

I connected my personal longing for my father's home to all the people from the south and north, who, under the terrible terror attack of October 7th, were evacuated from their homes, scattered across the country, their routines and holidays disrupted. All of us long to return home, to the smells, tastes, songs,to the Shabbat table, and to family. I, too, miss returning home, with memories of my father.
